Are Weather Changes Triggering Your Migraines?
Do you feel like you always develop a pounding headache when a storm rolls in or when the temperatures change? You might not actually be imagining things! Many people living with migraines notice that their symptoms often correspond with the weather.
At The Center of Medical Arts, we know how frustrating migraine pain can be (whether it’s triggered by weather changes or not). Fortunately, our holistic approach to health and wellness can help you take control of your symptoms.

Patient Success
“CMA is a gem 💎 ! In a sea of cookie-cutter physical therapy offices that provide standardized treatment regardless of individualized needs, the staff at CMA aim to provide a level of clinical excellence and expertise that exceeds all expectations and norms. Muna (physical therapist), Curtis (physical therapy assistant), and front desk service reps (Lisa & Hara) are compassionate advocates that go beyond what’s expected to help patients reach their individual goals and return to baseline functioning. I am not only a patient of their practice, but I work as a Family Nurse Practitioner and would recommend my own family and patients here if they needed any PT assistance. 10/10, cannot say enough good things about this practice.” – Victoria R.
Weather and Migraines: What You Need to Know
It’s important to understand that migraines aren’t just bad headaches. They’re complex neurological events that often go beyond simple head pain, with symptoms like nausea, vision changes, or sensitivity to light or sound worsening the experience.
Furthermore, migraines can have a number of different triggers. Weather is a common one for several reasons:
Temperature Swings
Dehydration
Bright Sunlight or Glare
Wind and Allergens
Everyone’s body reacts differently to these factors. Some people experience migraines during thunderstorms, while others struggle with migraines during seasonal changes. Understanding your personal triggers is crucial for achieving long-term relief.
We recommend keeping a log of weather patterns and other potential triggers to start. This information helps you identify what to avoid, enabling our team to create a more customized care plan tailored to your specific needs.

Vitamin D: The Devil’s In the Details
Are you getting enough vitamin D? This crucial nutrient plays a powerful role in your overall health and wellness. It supports strong bones, boosts your immune system, and influences your mood and energy levels. Unfortunately, many people don’t realize how easily they can fall short, especially during the winter.
Why Vitamin D Matters
(And Why You Might Not Be Getting Enough)
Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus, two minerals that keep bones and muscles healthy. It also supports proper nerve function and immune response. Without enough, even simple daily activities can feel harder on your body. Over time, low vitamin D can contribute to fatigue, weakened muscles, bone pain, and an increased risk of illness.
Unfortunately, unlike other vitamins, the primary way our body absorbs vitamin D is through exposure to sunlight. In winter, when days are shorter and we tend to spend more time indoors, vitamin D deficiency becomes surprisingly common.
Simple Ways to Improve Vitamin D Levels
- Make a conscious effort to spend time outdoors. Even brief exposure to sunlight a few times a week can help.
- Incorporate foods rich in vitamin D, such as salmon, tuna, or eggs. You can also select foods fortified with vitamin D, such as milk or orange juice.
- If your vitamin D levels are consistently low, you might benefit from a supplement. Our team can provide additional guidance if needed.
- Stay active with Pilates or other types of movement. Physical activity supports circulation and muscle health, helping your body use all nutrients more effectively.
Small Changes, Big Benefits
Getting enough vitamin D can help you feel stronger, more energized, and less prone to aches and illness. If you’re struggling with fatigue or chronic discomfort this season, The Center of Medical Arts can help you restore balance with personalized wellness care. Seasonal Safety Tips
to Avoid Holiday Injuries
As much as we love our patients at The Center of Medical Arts, we’d like to keep you out of the clinic during the holiday season. Unfortunately, this time of year can lead to an increase in preventable injuries resulting from strains and overexertion during activities like decorating, shopping, or travel. 1. Use Proper Lifting Techniques
2. Watch Your Step On Icy Surfaces
3. Pace Yourself
4. Protect Your Back While Traveling
